Texans’ Will Anderson Jr. re-signs on massive deal

The Houston Texans and pro-bowler Will Anderson Jr. have agreed on a 3-year, $150 million deal.

The Texans have made it clear they want to lock up key players heading into the future of this team. They re-sign Will Anderson Jr. on his three-year deal and include $134 million in guaranteed money. The deal makes Anderson Jr. the highest paid non-QB ever in league history.

Anderson Jr. did his part in earning this massive deal. In 2024, he won Defensive Rookie of the year. In just three years, Anderson Jr. has 30 sacks in his career, 12 of which is a career best from the 2025 season. He also had 54 tackles, 35 of those were solo. He contributed to 3 fumbles forced.

Anderson’s deal comes after the franchise kept five-time pro bowler Danielle Hunter around. He was re-signed on a one-year $40 million deal back on March 5. Hunter earned his deal, recording 15 sacks out of the 47 total for the team.

The Texans defense in 2025 under coach Demeco Ryans did not disappoint. The defensive unit finished the 2025 season as the number one defense in the league. They led in yards allowed per game (277.2). They finished second in defensive scoring (18.3) per wsn.com.

With both Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr. locked in for at least the 2026 season, where will Demeco Ryans and co. take this unit in 2026?
