With confusion surrounding whether four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers would return for another season with the Steelers or retire, that answer came Saturday when the quarterback agreed to the deal.

Rodgers’ deal is worth $25 million total with $22 million in base salary. The rest comes in incentives. In what was supposed to be his last season in football, Rodgers will be making more than he did in 2025, which was $13.6 million, according to Yahoosports.com

Rodgers led the Steelers to a 10-7 record in 2025, a division title and a wild card berth. The division win was the first time since 2020. Rodgers reunites with former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy in Pittsburgh. They spent 13 seasons together, winning the division 9 times and a super bowl win in 2011 when they beat their current team, the Steelers, according to footballdb.com

The Rodgers-McCarthy duo produced a winning record of 125-77-2, the four MVPs for Rodgers and a coach of the year award in 2011 for Mike McCarthy the same year they won the big game. That season McCarthy and Rodgers led the Packers to a 15-1 record.

McCarthy was fired as Packers coach December 2, 2018, after losing to the Cardinals 20-17. They dropped to 4-7-1 and lost five of its last six games. This was the worst finish of a season since 2008 when they ended the year 6-10, which was also Rodgers’ first year as a starter, per nfl.com.
